a tribute: to the one, the only....

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.
[this one is for you Tam]
I went to see Friends With Benefits last week.

It was hilarious! I definitely thought it was better than No Strings Attached with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. I think thats's probably because Mila and Justin are just better. The ending was predictable, but that was probably the only thing. I kind of assumed it was going to go a certain way, but it didn't, so that was good. All around it's just a cute romcom!

I love J.T., he's hot, he's funny, he can dance, he can sing... which brings me to my next question: Why did he stop singing and dancing like this:

only three days of work left for me!
Yay Tuesday.

Went to see...

Cowboys and Aliens.

It was just as ridiclous as I thought it was going to be. It wasn't awful.. in fact, the cast was great, but the story line just wasn't my thing.

I did almost pee my pants (I mean this in the most literal sense) when an alien popped out of nowhere two or three times.

"put it on mah tab."

Mr. Schu is the police officer in Dan In Real Life...

Sneaky sneaky.

I scared my mom so bad when I sat up, screamed, and pointed at the screen.

crazy, stupid, love

I don't know if you ever have those movies that make you really emotional, typically for unknown reasons, but this is one of those movies for me. It was absolutely great! Long, but great! For one reason, or another it really affected me. It had an excellent storyline, I feel the premise of the entire movie was real life. There was a huge twist that I totally didn't see coming, which is unusual for me. I feel like I have an eye for the unpredictable, but I missed this. It wasn't as funny as I expected... the previews made it seem like a comedy, but I would actually call it a dark comedy, if that's even a genre. It was awkward too, really awkward. Not unlike Dan in Real Life. Steve Carrell produced it and stars in it, so funny awkward is obviously a given...

Overall, two thumbs up...8 out of 10 stars...I might see it again.

ps - why is Kevin Bacon always a tool? ALWAYS.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2

Lena: "What's the problem?"
Tibby: "The problem is that I suck at relationships... I should've been a guy."
Lena: "I guy wouldn't worry about sucking at relationships."

Nowhere Boy

John: "Why couldn't God have made me Elvis?"
Julia: "Because he was saving you for John Lennon."

I saw the previews for this on the Easy A dvd.  Strange, I never watch the previews, but this caught my eye. It's the story of John Lennon's adolescence. I don't think it ever came out in theaters in the states, but I Netflix'd it. Here's what I thought: (keep in mind that I know absolutely nothing about John Lennon or the Beatles.)
I can honestly say that I enjoyed it. Specifically, I loved the dialogue. Very witty and sarcastic, and it had a very real aspect to it, with the family drama. Apparently, Lennon was raised by his aunt, and when he started spending time with his real mother, the two fought over his attention. It has some questionable content, such as language and sex.

side note: Aaron Johnson actually learned to play the guitar and sang for the movie. All the music is actually him playing.

ps, new germany post.

currently watching...

Somethings Gotta Give.

You know, with Diane Keaton, Keanu Reeves, Jack Nicholson, and Amanda Peet.

My thoughts:
...excellent movie and I mean that sincerely, but the parts with Keanu Reeves and Diane Keaton totally creep me out. I don't know whether it's because Keanu Reeves is awkward or because she's so much older.

It's just gross.

...her house in the Hamptons is amazing.

...Jack Nicholson has a lot of sex appeal, but the sex scene with him and Diane Keaton is not ok with me. Just call me immature.

...turning her life into a Broadway play is absolutely genius.

Green Lantern

3 thumbs up... I don't have a third thumb, but if I did, it would be up. Excellent movie! Blake Lively actually had good acting in this movie, unlike in The Fighter. But seriously, it's a typical super hero movie. Average guy gets super powers, uses them to save the world, and then he gets the girl... all while looking ridiculously hot. Ryan Reynolds is one hot piece of man meat. Therefore, I loved it!! I saw a review that it was Iron Man meets Star Wars... couldn't have said it better myself. The villian, played by Peter Sarsgaard is gross. Seriously, he does not look like himself. His head is MASSIVE... but moving on.. It was also refreshing to see Mark Strong play a good guy. I'd definitely recommend it.

Weekends.

This weekend I got some much needed downtime, with the exception of Friday night, that is. I went with mom and the neices to the circus. I had never been before, so I felt it was definitely something I should do. However, my sentiment now is, "I've seen one, now I never have to go again." The performances were excellent, but not something I want to go see everyday.

Saturday night, I stayed at the apartment, cooked dinner and watched movies...

You might recall this post when you see this poster. I confess... I went to see this movie in the theater with Taylor and two guys. The guys didn't like it so we left. I'm not going to pretend I was into it, but I wish I would've finished it. Tamura told me I should give it another shot, so I did. Apparently, we walked out right before it picked up. This was an exceptional movie, guys. Seriously, not only just how Facebook started, but learning about Mark Zuckerberg, all the people involve, the behind the scenes stories. It was definitely a win, definitely. On the same note, there is definitely a target audience for this movie... if you're not part of the Facebook generation I don't think you should bother. It would also be a shame not to mention Mr. Andrew Garfield and his preppy good looks. That hair...

I saw this in the theater, as well, with Taylor. On the contrary, we loved it!! Drew Barrymore and Justin Long have excellent chemistry, and they are both hilarious. Warning: Crude, very crude, humor. Like seriously crude. And there's drug use. Sooo... you decide.

Sunday... wow, totally laziness. Went to church, then lunch, then napped at the rents, then went to Granny's with mom and stayed for almost 2 hours, then came back to the rents, went swimming, drank wine, had breakfast for dinner, spent the night because I was too lazy to drive home at 10:30. Good Times.

Quote of The Day.

"...maybe this happy ending doesn't include a wonderful guy. Maybe it's you, on your own, picking up the peices and starting over; freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is just you, moving on...

...or maybe the happy ending is this: remembering through all the unreturned phone calls, broken hearts, through all the blunders and misread signals, through all the pain and embarrassment, you never ever gave up hope."

X-Men: First Class

Me and Tay went to see X-Men First Class last night for her birthday...
Can I just say, although I was lusting over the hot man meat in the movie for most of the time, I loved it! Ok, just kidding, but not really. It was a great movie! The effects, the guys were hot, the story line was wonderful and it was also really cool to get to see where it all started and how it all began. My only complaint for the entire movie is Kevin Bacon. He's acting wasn't bad, it's just me... I can't take him seriously. Wolverine also made a cameo; hello, Mr. Hugh Jackman. Seriously, excellent movie, EXCELLENT!!

and this, just because I'm immature (as you already know):

6.07.2011

Just an observation...

I haven't posted an entire blogs worth of hot famous men lately, like this, so here it goes....
Isn't it interesting how guys get way more hot when they speak and they're hilarious? It's like funny hot guy syndrome. It's proof that you just really can't judge a book by it's cover.

John Krasinski -
Oh dear... There are no words for this wonderful piece of man meat.
Jason Bateman
Michael Cera Awkward Funny.
Juno
Jason Segel -
Forgetting Sarah Marshal, I Love You Man, Knocked Up, the list goes on and on and on...
Jimmy Fallon -
He's like my new obsession.
Paul Rudd -
Do you remember him in Clueless?! I had a cruch on him back then too!

A few more: Jack Black, Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill. It's weird that these names will forever be associated with comedy of our generation....

Quote of the Day:

"The subtext of that text... BOOTAY."
-Carrie Bradshaw

It's all in the subtext - you gotta learn to read between the lines.

gpoyw: nyc adventures.

Me + my Corned Beef on Rye (the best corned beef I've ever had) at Katz Deli.

You know the place where Sally faked an orgasm...

this sign really is hanging above the table they were eating at:

disclaimer: I didn't have an orgasm while eating there, nor did I fake one.

The Time Traveler's Wife.

I read this book a while ago... when the movie was coming out. If I see the previews for a movie based on a book I always read it. If they're making a movie, the book's got to be pretty darn good, right?! Anyways, I loved it. It is such a wonderful love story and wonderfully written. I thought it was going to be weird, like sci-fi ish, but it wasn't at all.

I finally got around to watching the movie last week...

I should've known this would happen with there being so much narration in the book, but it did not translate well to a movie. The cast was wonderful, and the story was still good, but in comparison the movie was just mediocre. Normally, I would say that if you haven't read the book, you'll probably still like the movie, but I don't think this is the case. It's going to be confusing if you haven't read the book, and if you've the read the book you won't like it. It's a catch 22. If you don't have anything else to watch, check it out. Otherwise... don't even bother. Just read the book.

I think this is the first bad review I've ever given a movie on here. I'm a very pleasable person when it comes to movies, but this just didn't do it for me.

5.19.2011

yea...

Ever since I saw the previews for this, I really wanted to see it... obvi, my spirit animal is akin to an immature 13 year old girl. Taylor and I went tuesday night after getting FroYo at the new place on knickerbocker (TJ's I think). Oh my gosh, it's just like Menchie's... if you've never been there, look it up and go there if there'sone nearby when you're out of town! Anyways... Prom.

Oh wow, I loved it. I told Taylor it had been a while since I've seen a movie that clean. I know it's Disney, but it was super clean, which was good a thing. With it being about Prom they could've made it pretty dirty and cast some hoes, but that  It had a pretty good story line and witty dialogue.

To top it off, can I just comment on how freaking cute the Male Lead is?
Holy crap: Feast your eyes on Thomas McDonell
He plays the bad boy... he rides a motorcylce, has long hair, and constantly has the brooding look on his face. He's somewhat reminscent of Judd Nelson in the Breakfast Club, which was kind of the point, I'm gathering. In real life he graduated with an art degree from NYU. He's my soul mate, for shiz. AND I looked it up, he's 24, so I'm not a creeper.

5.12.2011

For the sake of everyone...

I'm going to condense about 3 posts into 1. All regarding movies/tv shows.

 Glee Prom

I think this is my favorite episode to date... especially in regards to Kurt. Kurt, is my favorite character, hands down. I don't know why I love him so much but I just do. When Darren Criss is added to the equation it's like the icing on the cake. The Glee Prom was just like every prom, I think that's why I liked it. There was drama, romance, and comedy. Two thumbs up Glee, well done. Can I just say how much I love the fact that Glee makes fun of itself on the show... I've noticed it before, but when I watched Prom there was one specific part with 'Run, Joey Run' that was hilarious.
    Something New
Netflix recommended this movie because of the five stars I gave Love & Basketball. I must say it didn't disappoint... granted, it was a typical RomCom. You knew exactly who was going to end up together 5 minutes into watching. However, that's what I love about RomComs... Comedy and Happy Endings. Yes Please. And anyway... how hot is Simon Baker? He's like melted butter on hot toast... Whoa, too far?! Probs... moving on. Overall, I'd give it 7 out 10 stars.

Something Borrowed

I took my mom to see this for her Mother's Day present on Monday. I had read the book about a year (or more) ago and loved it so I kinda figured the movie would be a for sure win. It was... this is one book to movie transformation that I will endorse. With the exception of one part of the story changing, the movie was dead on. John Krasinksi played Ethan. Lord have mercy, the facial expressions he can make is absolutely hilarious... He is the humor in the movie. He delivers lines flawlessly. In fact, his character was a lot like the character he played in It's Complicated, which was wonderful. Well done John, well done. Kate Hudson played the bitch. Wow, I've never her seen her like this... I have to admit I really like her as funny Kate, but she pulled off bitchy Kate without a hitch.

Quote of the day.

John: "Remember how you said your parents use you to get back at each other? "
Claire: [nods]
John: "Wouldn't I be outstanding in that capacity?"

Do I even have to tell you why I absolutely LOVE these two together?

Not the bet movie of all time, but it's definitely in the running.
