I read this book a while ago... when the movie was coming out. If I see the previews for a movie based on a book I always read it. If they're making a movie, the book's got to be pretty darn good, right?! Anyways, I loved it. It is such a wonderful love story and wonderfully written. I thought it was going to be weird, like sci-fi ish, but it wasn't at all.
I finally got around to watching the movie last week...
I should've known this would happen with there being so much narration in the book, but it did not translate well to a movie. The cast was wonderful, and the story was still good, but in comparison the movie was just mediocre. Normally, I would say that if you haven't read the book, you'll probably still like the movie, but I don't think this is the case. It's going to be confusing if you haven't read the book, and if you've the read the book you won't like it. It's a catch 22. If you don't have anything else to watch, check it out. Otherwise... don't even bother. Just read the book.
I think this is the first bad review I've ever given a movie on here. I'm a very pleasable person when it comes to movies, but this just didn't do it for me.

I saw the movie recently. I have a lot of time on my hands since I don't currently get out much! I'm not sure I knew there was a book, but that makes sense. I'm sure the book is way better, as that is almost always the case.
However, I loved the movie! It was a bit slow, but I followed it just fine, and I bawled at the end! I haven't cried that much at a movie since the first time I saw Titanic!! It could be partially due to pregnancy hormones, but I still enjoyed it :)
