Me and Aly went to see Love and Other Drugs on Thanksgiving.
It was ok. I liked the story, but it was a little risque... too much nudity and too much sex.
buuut thats not why wanted to blog about it...
Anne Hathaway's character in the movie had Parkinsons. She was diagnosed at age 27 with early onset, and I felt like it was a very realistic perception of Parkinsons. A major theme in the movie was that she didn't want anyone to have to take of her, very realistic. I thought this was so great. I can't think of any other movie that has ever had anyone with Parkinsons in it. Parkinson's, unlike cancer or aids, is not a well known disease, regardless of the fact that it effects just as many people. 60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. People just aren't informed or educated. Truth is, they should be. There are so many elderly people that will have to deal with it at some point.... and some that aren't elderly.
I say all this to make the point that its wonderful that is it finally getting publicity and on the big screen no less! It makes me happy!
