i've been using my new camera (read about it here) and i finally got my first two rolls developed.

Wow. This would be such an experience. While I really have no desire to venture into the hell hole that is North Korea, I would love to do this. I'm not sure if you're aware, but people dont just walk into North Korea, much less, walk in with a camera. It is probably the worlds most oppressed and controlled society.

He had a guide, and staged the pictures they wanted him to take.

So here's a magazine that was published by YWAM about their most recent Marriage of the Arts DTS. That's what I will be attending.. there will be a graphic design track, photography, fine art, video, writing and several others... we will all be together, but seperate. This magazine has stories, pictures, and information about YWAM! After reading prety much all of it, I'm even more aware of right this choice is for me. This is where I need to be and what I need to be doing. Had you asked me 2 years ago, 1 year, heck 6 months ago if I thought I was called to the mission field I would have laughed to myself, and probably out loud. I always thought I had a strong desire to help people, but never really felt like I wanted to do that as a Christian... weird, I know, but I've always wanted to do the Peace Corp (and still do). I just never felt I wanted to go help people and be a witness. I've never felt like I could be a great witness. My flaws, my insecurities have always kept me from feeling worthy, I guess. God has definitely been pushing me into this journey, and I know without a doubt that it is going to be one of the hardest things I ever do, to step out of my comfort zone for the first few times.

I'm so excited to that I have this oppurtunity to combine my passion, art, with helping others... that I can use something I'm good at (probably the only thing I'm good at) to make a difference in someone else's life. By taking a picture of a girl, I can make her feel beautiful. By taking a simple picture of a village impoverished by lack of food, health supplies, or a government that doesn't take of it's people, I can show people that live a privelaged life what life is really like for a large portion of the world.

So, take a look and read some of the stories... you won't be disappointed.

I just found an amazing photographer, Jan Schlegel.

His pictures are truly moving. He photographs indiginous people in Africa, India, and other poverty stricken places. Here's two pictures that I really like, you should just go to his wesite and look at all of them. You will not regret it!

I got new pictures developed, however, I think Wal-Mart lost roll number two. There might be a smackdown.

I mentioned about a month ago that I bought a new fisheye camera, from Lomography. It is the coolest, little camera I think I've ever owned. It shoots film, which is different, but I love it for several reasons. Here's why:

1. You think about the pictures you're taking. You think about why you're taking it, how to make it work without being able to instantly see it.
2. You don't take useless pictures. Each picture has a meaning and a story behind it.
3. There's imperfections. Like the following roll, each picture doesn't turn out perfect. (Notice the blue lines on EVERY. SINGLE. PICTURE) But that's what makes them unique, and you know, I look at these pictures and I am reminded of some very good times, no, GREAT times. I have a memory for every picture regardless of the blue lines. I also have a memory, fond or not, of the blue lines (Keaton Kolor, and that's all I'm gonna say about that.).
4. Different film=different colors, textures, and light. This is redscale, not my favorite, but I still like it.

I got a new fisheye camera... it shoots film!! I've had it for a few weeks, it was my graduation present to myself! are you allowed to do that?? Anyway, I finally got the first roll developed! Unfortunately, either the film was damaged in the camera or during processing, so every picture has a blue line through it.


But here's one cute picture of Tamura and I! I love this girl, she's in from Seattle for Jessica's wedding and Christmas. Seriously, she's like my soul mate, the only person in the world that follows my wack-o train of thought and gets my logic. Hopefully it's only a matter of time before she ditches the rain and comes back to the Texas Sunshine!

I truly do love my photography class, but I have to say that I am very happy that it's over... it's been somewhat stressful and I didn't always have to time to put forth as much effort as I wanted. However, we turned in out final portfolio yesterday, so I thought I would share it on here::

I must say, it's super super CUTE! Four year olds running around attempting to kick a ball is just hilarious! Taelye acually gets into it, sometimes. Other times, she's doing front rolls and bear crawls on the field. I have the cutest neice ever, no big deal.
